How a Woman Should Act on a Date

Chivalry is not yet dead! The rules of chivalry in the earliest of times were already taught to men to observe proper etiquette when treating their ladies, especially on a date.

With this in mind, it's also important to establish rules for ladies' behaviour too. Do women also have to follow a set of courtesies during a date?

Of course.

A date involves two people after all. So, both parties have their roles to play in order to make the date a successful one.

The following are some of the simplest ways women can drive a date to a positive direction.

Build rapport

Establish rapport by encouraging your date to tell as much stories as he can, no matter how random the topic gets. It is common for a woman to let the man take control of the conversation, and allow themselves to be the listening buddy.

On the other hand, you don't want to be just the listener. You can also take points from the conversation and ask him about his life and interests. This will make him feel special and keep the conversation of the date go longer.

Listen

Be a good listener and remember the details he has shared to you. Try to bring it up again whenever appropriate. For example, if he tells you about a TV show that he likes, try to mention it later in the conversation. He'll notice you've been listening which in turn will encourage him to talk more.

Often times, your level of interest may wane as soon as he talks about topics that most women aren't familiar with. For example, if he starts talking about masculine stuff like golf and construction projects, don't get intimidated. It's okay to admit unfamiliarity over a topic. If anything, this will only push him to explain the topic further.

Be appreciative

Dates are like important events that require a lot of preparation and effort. You have to pick the right clothes, put on make up, and wear perfume. While you're doing all those things, he might also have spent a lot of time trimming his beard, picking the right clothes, and the right perfume so he looks decent to you. Compliment him one you see him so he knows his efforts are being appreciated.

Be his own cheerleader

Guys like to be cheered on because it boosts their ego. Men lose their anxiety when their value is acknowledged by someone that they like. Get to know your date by asking questions about his strengths and weaknesses.

Even if you have more accomplishments than him, avoid saying or doing anything that will make him feel insecure. Try to get him to talk about his skills and capabilities, rather than closing the doors on him because he's not on the same level as you

Offer to split the bill

It is a common practice that men should treat their dates as princesses, but in today's world of modern dating, men don't always have to shoulder all the expenses. Only a few people these days follow the rule of letting the person who initiated the date pay for everything.

While it may be a sweet for a guy to handle the bill, it's much fairer to divide the costs, or at least offer to use your money for the tip. Play it fair and square.

Women also play a significant role in dates. Your actions and behavior will affect the atmosphere of the date. Regardless of the dismay that dating has brought to some people, it is something that you have to experience if you're looking for a serious relationship.
